Bridges Impact+ is our in-house, practitioner-led advisory function. It has a dual purpose: to help our fund teams invest for impact more effectively, and to support the growth of the sustainable and impact investment market more broadly.

Bridges Impact+ has four key functions:

Internal teams Wider industry
Research and development Frameworks and tools Shareable intellectual capital
Advisory Hands-on support and learning Bespoke advice

Hands on learning and support:

The principal role of Impact+ is to support our internal fund teams throughout the investment cycle. Impact+ works alongside Bridges’ investment teams to establish where our funds can have the greatest impact; to identify impact risks and opportunities pre-investment; to measure and maximise impact during an investment; and to capture the lessons learned for future investments.

Frameworks and tools:

Bridges has been investing for impact since 2002. We’ve drawn on this experience to develop a number of proprietary tools and frameworks that help us think about how we analyse, measure and manage the impact of our potential and current investments. For instance, the Bridges’ Spectrum of Capital maps out the broad range of risk/return investment strategies that exist within the sustainable and impact investing sector. The development of our own platform of funds reflects our intention to maximise our impact across this spectrum.

The Bridges Impact Radar is used by our teams to identify the most impactful investment sectors within our four impact themes. It is also used to get a fuller picture of the potential impact risks and returns of any individual investment. If we choose to invest, the teams use this information to develop a set of impact-related Key Performance Indicators. These reflect the priority areas for engagement with the business, wherever we have identified (with management) opportunities to mitigate risks and drive value. We continue to use the Radar throughout the investment process, tracking the results through an annual Impact Scorecard, which we share with our investors.
